Mexican Breakfast a ROUSING Success!!

Whoever doubts the power of the press was not at our annual breakfast this past Sunday.

The terrific article, written by Diane Urbani de la Paz and published on the front page of the Peninsula Daily News, spurred a lot of folks to give our breakfast a try. We also appreciate the coverage given on KSQM radio.  166 breakfasts were served and as usual, people raved about the food. Board member Steve Gilchrist’s “secret” recipe of stacked corn tortillas, black beans, scrambled eggs, salsa and cheese along with bottomless cups of Ravens Brew coffee made our breakfast the best in town.

Thanks go out to our wonderful volunteers:  Kim Renfro, Sharon Jensen and board members Kathy Purcell and Cathy Van Ruhan as servers, Barbara Brooner who helped immensely at the cashier table with board member Judith Pasco,  and board member Steve Gilchrist in the kitchen along with former board members John Boetsch, Beth Fetrow, Molly Rivard  as well as volunteers Marilyn Gilchrist, David Fox and Bob Pasco.

More thanks go out to our terrific attendees, who not only came for breakfast, but whose generosity was so evident in our donation jar.  Our total net proceeds this year were $2918!

Every year, we are so happy to see the socializing that takes place at the tables. It’s a relaxing, enjoyable morning for all concerned (well, the volunteers were certainly getting their exercise) and we see this event as a way to connect with our wonderful community of both long-term  Mujeres’ supporters and friendly new faces.

Thanks to all involved for your support. All proceeds go to our programs and scholarships in Chiapas, Mexico.
