Our 14th Annual D\u00eda de Muertos dinner and auction, Saturday, November 2, 2019<\/h2>\n

What an evening! Everyone agreed that the event had been a total success. Board members did a great job providing delicious food, decorating the hall and insuring that everything was in place for our fun and social fundraiser. We extend thanks to all the volunteers without whom we could not have put on such a wonderful evening. More thanks go to the donors who contributed terrific items for our silent auction. The highlight of the program was the premiere of our new video, filmed, produced and edited by Eric Rust. That video is now on the homepage of this site. We served 104 dinners, and we appreciate all the attendees who came to support our programs and scholarships.<\/p>\n

The dinner event this past Saturday was bittersweet. It was a lovely event with a very upbeat ambience. The room was colorful with Mexican fabric as tablecloths and sparkling lights around the perimeter. The auction items (of which there were 75) were varied, interesting and appealing. Aromas from the kitchen made everyone hungry. It all went well, but in the back of my mind, I was conscious that it was our last event in this format. We had decided, as a board, that this event is getting too much for us. We are not getting any younger. I found that generally as a rule, over the last 14 years, all of October was spent preparing for this. So this was the last time. But rest assured, the work of Mujeres continues. Judith will still visit Chiapas at least once a year. Our popular Mexican breakfast (coming March 1, 2020) and our Men with Guitars concert will go on.<\/p>\n

Thanks again to all who have made this possible over the years.<\/p>\n
